Michael Freeman
Office of Governor Greg Gianforte

Michael Freeman currently serves as the Natural Resources Policy Advisor for Governor Greg Gianforte. He works on policy issues affecting Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks, the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, the Department of Environmental Quality, as well as the Departments of Agriculture and Livestock. Previous to this role, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and Environmental Management and as Acting Deputy Solicitor for Water Resources at the Department of the Interior. He spent almost seven years on Capitol Hill in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives working on energy and natural resources issues. He began his career in the Office of the General Counsel at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. He was born and raised in Butte, MT.
