Jason Maxedon
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency

Jason Maxedon serves as Executive Director of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, where he leads more than 750 professionals dedicated to conserving Tennessee’s wildlife and habitats while promoting safe, sustainable outdoor recreation across the state.
A native of West Tennessee, Maxedon holds an Associate of Science from Dyersburg State Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology from the University of Tennessee at Martin, and a Master of Science in Forestry from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
He began his career with TWRA in 2000 as a Wetlands Wildlife Forester in West Tennessee, helping restore more than 7,000 acres of bottomland hardwoods and implement large-scale hydrology and forest management projects. He later served as Area Manager for the Lower Obion Wetland Complex, overseeing 30,000 acres of wildlife habitat, and as Regional Wildlife Program Manager in Jackson, managing programs across 25 counties and nearly 300,000 acres.
Appointed Deputy Executive Director in 2020 and Executive Director in 2022, Maxedon continues to advance TWRA’s mission of science-based management, public access, and long-term conservation of Tennessee’s natural resources. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, he brings both professional expertise and personal passion to his leadership and dedication to conservation.
