Ben Larson
Ruffed Grouse Society

Ben Larson has worked on creating markets in agriculture and forestry for thirty years. After college, he moved to his dad’s cousins’ old dairy farm in northern MN where he set up a truck farm, selling produce at farmers’ markets and restaurants. He then worked with farmers and ranchers in ND on the income potential from wind energy and, later, with landowners in the SE US on the income potential from using wood for bioenergy. After getting a master’s in forestry, he worked for the National Wildlife Federation on biomass and longleaf restoration, and then with Enviva Biomass, where he set up partnerships and procurement programs to support ecological forest restoration with a growing percentage of Enviva’s pulpwood’s purchasing. At the Ruffed Grouse Society, Larson is the Mid-Atlantic Forest Conservation Director and Director of Forest Market Strategies.
